Team welcomes two new coaches
The Arizona State University Men’s Lacrosse team is pleased to announce that Ben Prepchuk and Cody Soberanes will be joining the coaching staff for the 2018 season. Ben joins the team as its new Assistant Coach and Cody will be assisting the team as a volunteer coach.

Ben Prepchuk brings NLL experience to the team. Ben was drafted third overall in the 2000 National Lacrosse League (NLL) entry draft by the New York Saints. He was selected as the Assistant Captain of the Calgary Roughnecks in his 2nd year as a pro, and played for the Colorado Mammoth, and Edmonton Rush. He was a part of the 2006 NLL Champion’s Cup winning Colorado Mammoth. Ben finished his professional career with 132-goals/143-assists for 275 points in 99 games.

During his collegiate career, Ben played Division I lacrosse as a middie for two seasons at Radford University in Virginia (1999 & 2000). In his Freshman year, he finished third in team scoring with 24-goals/15-assists in 14 games. In his Sophomore season, he led the team in scoring, and finished 4th in the country in goals per game with 36-goals/13-assists in 12 games. Ben also helped the Brampton Excelsiors win the 2002 Mann Cup for the Canadian National Championship. He finished second in team scoring in the series with 11-goals/10-assists in 7 games.

Cody Soberanes bring coaching experience to the team. He previously coached the Scorpion Youth Lacrosse team in 2017 (Danville, CA) and coached lacrosse at Horizon High School in 2015.

Cody graduated from Monte Vista High School in Danville, CA and completed his Finance degree in 2014 from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY. While at Canisius he played Midfield on the D1 team. He was a member of the 2012 MAAC Championship team, was named team MVP, All League and All Conference during his 3 years at Canisius College. He was also awarded the Community Service Award among all Canisius College student-athletes in 2014.

Arizona State Men’s Lacrosse welcomes both new coaches to the team.

Playing in the South Division of the Southwestern Lacrosse Conference (SLC) in 2017, Arizona State finished with an 10-7 record and a top 10 ranking. The team competed in the MCLA National Tournament for the 8th straight year.

Assistant Coach Position

Arizona State University is currently accepting applications for the position of Assistant Coach for the Men’s Lacrosse team which plays in the Men’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association. The team has been extremely successful having played in the MCLA National tournament for the last 8 years.


  • Implement the team philosophy and strategy.
  • Instruct players on individual and team concepts.
  • Assist with daily practice planning, game preparation, coordinating game film and film exchanges, and assisting with team fundraisers.
  • Assist the head coach in organizing and directing a comprehensive student-athlete support program Including promotion of the program, leadership development and student-athlete motivation.

This is a payed position and the salary will be assessed based on experience and availability. Candidates are expected to assist the head coach in the day-to-day administration the program.

Candidates should be able to attend all team scheduled events. The team schedule for the 2018 season includes:

Fall practice Mon, Wed, and Fri 6-9am
Spring practice Mon thru Fri 4-7pm Sat 9-12am
Travel for games (includes some weekday travel)

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to the candidate who has playing and coaching experience at the MCLA and/or NCAA level. Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills are essential. The program holds in high regard positive leadership, initiative, work ethic, commitment and responsibility.

Wheelchair Lacrosse

The players had a good time at the first game and more players wanted to participate so we have scheduled a second wheelchair lacrosse game against the 360 Scorpions for January 21st at 2:00pm in the Gold Gym at the Sun Devil Fitness Center. We have the gym from 1 to 4.

The SDFC is on Apache Dr, Tempe. Parking in the garage next to the SDFC should be available.

If you would like to watch the game just enter the SDFC and let the people at the desk know you are there to watch the wheelchair lacrosse game. They will direct you to the correct gym.
